THE MOST PRECIOUS FLOWERS OF ROHÁČSKE PLESÁ AREA

The Blue marsh felwort (Swertia perennis subsp. alpestris), The alpine toadflax (Linaria alpina), The Tatra scurvygrass (Cochlearia tatrae), The Tatra daisy (Leucanthemopsis tatrae), The harestail cotton-grass (Eriophorum vaginatum)

In one of the Roháčske tarns an important glacial relict, the floating bur-reed grows, the appearance of which means, that there is clean water in the tarns.  There are only two localities of this rare plant in Slovakia. Above the tarns there is an extensive occurrence of the swiss willow, which rarely grows in the Tatras in several locations. In the surrounding of the tarns peaty plants such as harestail cotton-grass, blue marsh felwort and others occur. In the wider surroundings of Ostrý Roháč and mainly in the area of Plačlivé the flowers are richer thanks to mylonites occurence, right here as in the only place in Tatras the rare alpine toadflax grows.
